Endorsements for the 2023 Greater Houston Mayoral Race

The African Coalition Political Action Committee (ACPAC), with a mission for the empowerment of immigrant African community of Greater City of Houston in all aspects of life through promoting political and civic participation, is proud to endorse Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for Mayor of the City of Houston in the November 2023 general election.
ACPAC interviewed the two leading candidates in the race and endorsed Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for the following reasons:
- Demonstrated long-term advocacy for her congressional district, the City of Houston, and the State of Texas, as evidenced by her legislative accomplishments and years of dedication to Houston’s families and small businesses.
- Extensive familiarity with Houston’s international communities, reflected in her multiple fact-finding missions abroad, and her enthusiastic embrace of Houston’s multicultural essence.
- Resilience and active engagement in various community events, showcasing her commitment to connecting with Houston’s citizens on a personal level.
- Vital legislative experience, facilitating effective negotiation of Houston’s needs at both state and national levels.
- Willingness to tackle intricate and contentious matters, working towards the improvement of all communities.
